明道曰。謂釋氏實是愛身放捨不得。何不觀五代史曰。佛於頭目手足皆以施人。則佛不愛身。固出於歐陽公之筆也。豈獨佛書有是說哉。

Mingdao said: "It is claimed that the Buddhists actually cherish the body and cannot let it go. Why not look at the *History of the Five Dynasties*? It says: 'The Buddha gave his head, eyes, hands, and feet away to others.' Thus, that the Buddha did not cherish his body surely comes from the brush of Lord Ouyang. How could it be that only Buddhist scriptures contain this statement?"
