有客來謁。妙明與之坐而問焉曰。夫子何來（尊美之稱曰夫子。謂客因何事而來）。

A guest came to visit. Miaoming sat with him and asked, 'Wherefore have you come, Master?' (A respectful and honoring form of address is called 'Master'. He asks for what reason the guest has come.)
