1.37

凡物自微至著緣淺及深（微者。細也小也。著者盛也。大也。凡一切物自細小而至盛大。緣者由也。譬人入海由淺而以及其深也）。

All things proceed from the subtle to the manifest, and from the shallow to the deep. ('Subtle' means fine and small. 'Manifest' means flourishing and large. All things proceed from fine and small to flourishing and great. 'Proceed' means following from; just as when a person enters the sea, they follow from the shallow and reach into its depth.)
