今見佛經。卷以萬計。言以億數。自非一人力所堪能。蓋繁而不要也（言佛經。萬卷之廣。億數之多。不是一人用力可觀覽者。蓋繁冗而不簡要也）。

Now when looking at the Buddhist scriptures, scrolls are counted by the tens of thousands and words by the hundreds of millions; these naturally exceed what the strength of a single person can master. They are truly voluminous and lacking in essentials. (This refers to Buddhist scriptures: their breadth of ten thousand scrolls and their abundance of hundreds of millions of words are not something a single person's effort can peruse; they are truly voluminous and not concise.)
