合抱之木。豈適用以茆茨（二人相圍曰合抱。茆茨茆草也。適相從之義。謂合抱之大木。豈適於茆茨而用之）。

How could a tree of several arm-spans be suitable for use in a thatched hut? (What two people can embrace together is called 'several arm-spans' [hebao]. Mao ci means thatched reeds. 'Suitable' [shi] carries the sense of conforming with. It means: how could a great tree of several arm-spans be suitable to be used in a thatched hut?)
