外無跪起之儀。內絕溫恭之禮。先王之制。得不違乎（外於君王處。無跪拜之禮儀。內於父母處。無溫和恭敬之禮貌。將其古先哲王制作之法不行。焉得不違背乎）。

Outwardly they have no etiquette of kneeling and rising; inwardly they cut off the courtesy of gentle reverence. Can they be said not to violate the regulations of the former kings?" (Outwardly, before the ruler, they have no ritual etiquette of kneeling and bowing. Inwardly, before parents, they have no courteous demeanor of gentle reverence. By failing to practice the institutional laws of the ancient, former wise kings, how could they not be in violation?)
