當是時。豈有簪纓冕服之飾也哉（結上文。皆是聖德之君。無為之道。化利天下。焉有簪纓冕袞服而為莊飾也哉）。

at that time, how could there have been the adornments of hairpins, hat ribbons, ceremonial caps, and court robes? (Concluding the preceding passage: these were all rulers of sagely virtue; through the Way of non-action, they transformed and benefited the world. How could they have had hairpins, hat ribbons, caps, and robes as personal adornments?)
