河上坐見漢文（列僊傳。漢文帝好道德嘗使使問義於河上公。公曰。道高德貴。不可遙聞。後帝親幸其庵。河上坐見於帝）。

Heshang Gong sat while receiving Emperor Wen of Han; (In the Liexian zhuan, Emperor Wen of Han loved the Way and virtue, and once sent an envoy to inquire about its meaning from Heshang Gong. The Gong said: 'The Way is lofty and virtue is noble; they cannot be heard from afar.' Later the emperor personally visited his hermitage, and Heshang Gong remained seated while granting him an audience.)
