4.25

譬如荷鍤以平太行。抱石而塞巨浸。其於功也。不亦勞乎（巨浸海也。客之謗佛。譬如有人負荷鍤钁欲要平治太行之山。抱取塊石。而要塞填大海。為此之功力者。不亦勞而難乎）。

'This is like shouldering a spade to level Mount Taihang, or holding a stone to dam a great flood—in terms of effort, is it not toilsome?' (A great flood means the ocean. The guest slandering the Buddha is like someone shouldering a spade and pickaxe wishing to level Mount Taihang, or holding a boulder wanting to dam and fill the ocean; for such an expenditure of effort, is it not laborious and difficult?)
