why did the cow at once switch its tail, prick up its ears, and pace about listening? It was because the sound suited what it knew (蹀躞 is the appearance of hooves moving. Upon hearing this sound, the cow then switched its tail, pricked up both ears, and moved all four feet. Why did it listen like this? In general, it accorded with what it knew. 蹀 is pronounced 牃; 躞 is pronounced 泄).
