4.57

縱有懷其藻鑑評。而詣其實者。而於叢惑。奚能允哉（藻淨也。鑑鏡也。叢音從。今之有人。縱然明達如淨鏡。評論詣至於真實無妄之處。而叢叢之眾皆以迷惑。何能允信至於聖人之大道哉）。

Even if someone possesses a discerning judgment and assesses things to their reality, amid the entangled delusions, how could people accept it? (藻 means clean; 鑑 means mirror. 叢 is pronounced 從. Even if someone today were as clear and discerning as a clean mirror, evaluating and reaching the place of truth without falsity, yet the crowded masses are all deluded—how could they faithfully accept the Great Way of the sages?)
