折疑論 5.13

5.13

老子曰。不貴難得之貨。使民不為盜。佛云。不得畜金銀生像。尚書云。汝惟不伐。天下莫與汝爭功（伐誇也若不誇有功。則天下人無與爾爭奪其功也）。

'Laozi said: "Do not prize goods that are hard to obtain, so that the people will not become thieves." The Buddha said: "Do not keep gold, silver, or images of living beings." The Classic of Documents says: "Only by not boasting will no one under heaven contend with you for merit." (Fa means boasting. If one does not boast of having merit, then no one under heaven will contend with you for that merit.)
