Now, why was there obstruction earlier and wise comprehension later? It was because the capacities addressed by the preceding thirty-eight chapters (Being blocked and unable to pass through. Blocked means obstructed. Why was it that they were obstructed and did not know at first, but later wisdom arose and they comprehended? It is because lesser capacities cannot quickly grasp the great Dharma. Because the preceding thirty-eight chapters mostly addressed the capacities of the great, the two vehicles could not know it).
