1.58

沙門玄奘言。玄奘拙自營衛。冷疹增動。幾至綿篤。殆辭昭運。天恩矜憫。降以良醫。針藥纔加。即蒙瘳癒。駐頹齡於欲盡。反焭魄於將消。重覩昌時。復遵明導。豈止膏肓永絕。𭩅理恒調而已。顧循庸菲。屢荷殊澤。施厚命輕。罔知輸報。唯憑慧力。庶酬冥祉。玄奘猶自虛惙。未堪詣闕陳謝。無任竦戴之至。謹遣弟子大乘光奉表以聞。謹言。

The śramaṇa Xuanzang states: Xuanzang was unskilled in preserving his health, so cold humours and rashes flared up, almost becoming chronic and critical, nearly parting from this illustrious era. In Your heavenly mercy and compassion, You sent down a fine physician. As soon as acupuncture and medicine were applied, I received healing and recovery. My failing years were stayed as they were about to run out; my lonely soul was restored as it was about to extinguish. Once again I behold this prosperous age, and once more I follow Your luminous guidance. How is it only that the deep-seated ailment is ended forever, and the vital channels are permanently regulated? Reflecting on my own mediocrity, I have repeatedly received exceptional grace. The bestowal is weighty while my life is light; I know not how to repay it. I rely only on the power of wisdom, hoping to repay it with unseen blessings. Xuanzang is still weak and exhausted, not yet able to come to the palace to offer thanks. Unable to bear the utmost reverence, I have respectfully sent my disciple Mahāyānaprabha to present this memorial to make it known. Respectfully submitted.
