Memorial of the aforementioned Du Mian: Your servant has always lacked military merit, yet has unmeritedly been moistened by imperial kindness and erroneously received imperial favors. Desiring to repay the Sagely Benevolence, I now redirect the income from my fief from the first year of Baoying up to the first year of Yongtai, calculated at approximately over ten thousand strings of cash. Your servant requests to redirect this to create merit for the state. For the fief of the first year of Baoying, two thousand five hundred strings have already been collected; upon reaching the capital, they were delivered to Tripitaka Master Amoghavajra of Xingshan Temple to assist in the translation of Buddhist scriptures. I request that the funds collected from the fief be allocated to support the arena, provide vegetarian feasts and offerings, and cover the expenses for translation, copying, provisions, and other necessities. For those not yet collected, I have previously dispatched my younger brother Tong to receive them; I humbly hope instructions will be given to the relevant offices to dispatch them successively to sustain the work. As for the Buddhist scriptures, there are Sanskrit manuscripts that have not yet been translated, and I hope to hear their transmission and translation. Although older versions exist, their meanings and nuances are incomplete. I especially hope for Heavenly Favor to appoint General Li Yuancong of the New Longwu Army to supervise the matters together with the Tripitaka Master and Bhadanta Jinzhen of Xingshan Temple, and to select seven Bhadantas of scriptural learning in the capital to participate together in the translation, copying twenty-one sets of each, and promulgating them throughout the circuits and the great temples of the capital. They will then be transmitted to the thousands of realms and disseminated for ten thousand years, causing rebels to extinguish their scorpion-like forms and driving out mad barbarians to sweep away their wolfish traces. I humbly prostrate that Your Majesty may receive boundless fortune and meet with limitless blessings. Thus your foolish servant's slight sincerity and vows for life and death will be fulfilled. I especially hope Your Sagely Benevolence will permit your servant's request.
