The monk in mourning clothes Huilang and others state: Yesterday, on the sixth day, the evening of our late master's cremation, the Imperial Compassion mourned in grief, posthumously bestowing [the title of] Minister of Works, and further granting the posthumous title 'Tripitaka Master and Upādhyāya of Great Eloquence, Rectitude, and Vast Wisdom, Amoghavajra.' This brightly displayed the state's rites and shed favor upon his spirit road. The posthumous gift of the Three Excellencies surpasses former regulations; the designation 'Upādhyāya' has never been recorded in previous scriptures. One knows from this that the moisture of the high heavens soaks the rivers and oceans without bound, and the spirit in the dark paths is illuminated from below like the sun and moon. The whole hundred disciples and several thousand assembly members, moved by grief at the Imperial Grace, are utterly unable to bear the weight of receiving it. We respectfully attach this to the Palace Envoy Li Xiancheng, presenting this memorial to express our gratitude and report it. The monk Huilang and others, with sincere trepidation and sincere shame, respectfully speak.
