The śramaṇa Feixi and others state: On the twenty-sixth day of the eighth month, we respectfully received the high-ranking palace commissioner Li Xiancheng proclaiming the sacred decree ordering the members of the Śākya clan in various temples of the capital to chant the Great Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra, the Mahāmāyūrī Sūtra, and others, diligently praying to stop the rain so as to comply with the sacred heart. Feixi has heard: Even with the supreme sagacity of Emperor Yao, there was no lack of excessive rain; the Mahāmegha Sūtra also contains methods for praying for it to cease. Recently, the downpour seemed continuous, causing worries over flooding. Your Majesty personally laid bare your mind before the Golden Image and constantly burned incense in the Jade Palace. Thereupon, clear sunlight ascended, piercing the thick clouds to shine in all four directions; a gentle breeze arose, sweeping away the mist in all eight directions. The sacrificial grain can be expected, and granaries will ever overflow. These are all due to the supreme dedication of heavenly compassion; what could we monks know of it? Everyone among the religious and the laity cannot bear their gratitude. We respectfully submit this memorial via the palace commissioner Li Xiancheng to offer our congratulations and bring them to your hearing. The śramaṇa Feixi and others state this with sincere joy and leaping delight.
