13.16

彌勒佛。亦以三乘法。教我弟子。大迦葉者。當佐彌勒勸化。又君屠鉢歎比丘。賓頭盧比丘。羅云比丘。四大聲聞。約不般涅槃。須佛法沒盡。然後乃般涅槃。大迦葉住摩竭國界毘提村中山。彌勒當與數千人往至其所。諸鬼神等。當為開石門見其禪窟。時彌勒佛。申右手指。以示迦葉。告諸民人。過去久遠釋迦佛弟子。名曰迦葉。頭陀第一。今故現在。彌勒佛。當取迦葉僧伽梨著之。迦葉身體奄忽星散。彌勒取種種花。當供養迦葉。有敬心故（出彌勒下生經）。

'Maitreya Buddha will also teach my disciples with the teachings of the Three Vehicles. Mahākāśyapa will assist Maitreya in admonishing and transforming them. Furthermore, the four great śrāvakas—the monk Kuṇḍopadhānīya, the monk Piṇḍola, and the monk Rāhula—have resolved not to enter parinirvāṇa, waiting until the Buddha-Dharma has completely disappeared before entering parinirvāṇa. Mahākāśyapa dwells in the mountain near the village of Vedika in the territory of Magadha. Maitreya will go to that place with several thousand people. The ghosts and spirits will open the stone gate for them to see his meditation cave. At that time, Maitreya Buddha will extend his right finger to point out Kāśyapa, saying to the people: "Long ago in the past, there was a disciple of Śākyamuni Buddha named Kāśyapa, foremost in ascetic practices (dhūta), who remains present even now." Maitreya Buddha will take Kāśyapa's saṃghāṭī and put it on. Kāśyapa's body will suddenly disperse like stars. Maitreya will take various flowers and make offerings to Kāśyapa out of respect' (Extracted from the Sūtra on Maitreya's Descent).
