16.42

阿羅漢行至摩偷羅國往優婁曼陀山。坐於繩床。有兄弟二龍王。隨從五百眷屬。舍那婆私思惟。欲降伏之。即以神力。震動山谷。二龍王瞋。往婆私處起疾風雨雷電器仗猛火等。時婆私入慈三昧。能令風雨火等不近其身。變戒優鉢羅拘牟頭分陀利。

The arhat traveled to the country of Mathurā and went to Mount Urumuṇḍa, where he sat upon a rope bed. There were two brother dragon kings, accompanied by a retinue of five hundred. Śāṇavāsa reflected and wished to subdue them. He immediately shook the mountain valleys with his spiritual power. The two dragon kings grew angry and went to Vāsa's place, raising fierce winds, rain, thunder, lightning, weapons, ferocious fire, and the like. At that time, Vāsa entered the samādhi of loving-kindness and was able to cause the wind, rain, fire, and the like not to approach his body, transforming into utpala, kumuda, and puṇḍarīka [lotuses].
