33.70

王不聞佛言　果報不可說
乃至辟支佛　亦所不能免
一切諸凡夫　悉由業所造
善惡之業緣　時至必應受
一切諸眾生　自作自受報
我知此緣故　不說壞眼人
此苦我自作　無有他作者
如此眼因緣　不由於人作
一切眾生苦　皆亦復如是
悉由業所生　王當知此事

"Has the king not heard the Buddha's words? / Retribution cannot be described; / even a pratyekabuddha / cannot escape it. / All ordinary beings / are entirely created by their karma. / When the time arrives for the conditions of wholesome and unwholesome karma, / they must inevitably be received. / All sentient beings / act on their own and receive the retribution themselves. / Because I know this condition, / I will not speak of the person who destroyed my eyes. / This suffering was made by myself; / there was no other maker. / Such conditions of the eyes / did not stem from another person. / The suffering of all sentient beings / is likewise entirely like this: / it is all born from karma. / The king should know this matter."
