There was a wild fox that went to beg for food from a lion. Always obtaining leftovers, it never ceased going. It happened that the lion was hungry and had obtained no food; it then summoned the wild fox, sniffed it with its nose, seized it, and swallowed it. Before it died, from within the lion's gullet it cried out, "Master, spare my life!" The lion thought to itself, 'I nourished you to make you fat and tender precisely to keep you ready for this! What more can you say?' (Extracted from the Shijuan piyu jing).
