佛語諸比丘。畜生聞形相語。尚失色力。何況於人（出十誦律二誦第三卷出四分律初分第七卷略同）。

The Buddha said to the monks, 'Even beasts, when hearing words slighting their appearance, lose their color and strength, how much more so humans!' (Extracted from the Sarvāstivāda-vinaya, third fascicle of the second recitation; extracted from the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya, seventh fascicle of the first division, being largely the same.)
