5.27

如真人教　以道活身　愚者嫉之
見而為惡　行惡得惡　如種苦種
惡自受罪　善自受福　亦各須熟
而不相代　習善得善　亦如種甜

“Following the teachings of true persons,
One sustains life through the Way; the foolish envy this.
Seeing it, they commit evil;
Practicing evil, one reaps evil, like planting bitter seeds.
Evil brings its own retribution;
Goodness brings its own blessing.
Each must also come to ripeness,
And none can take another's place.
Habituating goodness yields goodness, just like planting sweet [seeds].”
