The Buddha told Ānanda: 'That woman was the spouse of King Jayaprabha for a hundred lifetimes in the distant past. Her past affections had not been eradicated, and she was attached to Jayaprabha's countenance. She made a vow with her mouth: "If King Jayaprabha fulfills my desire and lets me enjoy my wish, I will follow his teaching." At that time, King Jayaprabha knew her thought in his mind. In the morning, properly dressed, he entered her room. Thereupon he recited in verse:'
