The king of the Yuezhi realm, seeking the Buddha Way, built thirty-two stūpas to serve as objects of worship. He constructed them one by one, up to the thirty-first. At that time, a wicked person offended the king. The king's mind retrogressed: "How can such an evil person be delivered?" Immediately turning his mind, he renounced saṃsāra and turned toward nirvāṇa, building the thirty-second stūpa to seek liberation. Through these causes and conditions, he attained the path of an arhat. For this reason, this monastery is named Prātimokṣa (translated in Liang as "Liberation"). From that time until now, it has been less than two hundred years; this monastery still exists, and I have seen it myself. (Extracted from the *Zabaozang jing*).
