At that time, Baocheng had four close relatives: the first named Funou (Pūrṇa), the second named Weimoluo (Vimala), the third named Qiaoyanpo (Gavāmpati), and the fourth named Xutuo (Subāhu). Hearing that Baocheng had already become a śramaṇa, they were astonished, delighted, with hair standing on end, and said: "Let us go together to the Buddha and also visit Baocheng." Thereupon they went together. Seeing the Buddha's shadow, they relied upon their past aspirations and practices, paid homage, and addressed the Buddha: "Thirsting and hungering for the conversion of the Way, our minds have long been empty. Not disdaining our lowliness, we wish to become disciples." The Buddha said: "Come, monks (bhikṣu)!" and they all became śramaṇas. He preached to them that the mind is fundamentally pure; hearing the meaning, their minds became completely clear, and they promptly attained arhatship. Others who heard of this set out in search of him, and all attained the fruits of the Way. (Extracted from the Zhong benqi jing, First Fascicle; also extracted from the Chuyao jing, Fascicle 19)
