Formerly, several young boys were playing together on the road and encountered the Buddha. One made obeisance and, holding five beans in his hand, offered them to the Buddha. Four beans went into the bowl and one fell to the ground. The Buddha said: "May you obtain blessings life after life." When the boy's life ended, he was immediately born in heaven, and later became a wheel-turning king for eighty lives. (Taken from the Ten-Fascicle Parable Sūtra, fascicle 1.)
