Further, relying on the *Nyāyānusāra-śāstra*, it says: Because they first consumed solid food, their bodies gradually became solid and heavy, their radiance faded away, and darkness then arose. The sun, moon, and host of stars appeared from this. Due to gradually indulging in flavors, the earth-flavor then vanished. From this, earth-skin cakes arose; competing to indulge in eating them, the earth-cakes vanished again. At that time, forest creepers appeared; because they competed to indulge in eating them, the forest creepers vanished again. Scented rice that did not need planting grew of itself, and the multitude took it together to fill their food needs. Because this food was coarse, residual impurities remained in their bodies; desiring to eliminate them, two passages arose. Due to this, male and female faculties came to be born. Because the two faculties differed, their bodily appearances were also different. Due to the power of past habits, they looked upon one another, and from this improper desire arose. Eventually, because the fault of robbery arose, they appraised a virtuous person among the multitude, and with each giving a one-sixth share of what was harvested, hired him to guard and protect them, enfeoffing him as the master of the fields. Because of this, the title of 'kṣatriya' was established. The great multitude revered and obeyed him, and his kindness flowed throughout the entire land; therefore, he was also named 'Great King' (Mahā-rāja). Previously there were not many kings; among all subsequent kings, this king was the first.
