10.40

時諸女人聞此語已。心懷慚愧懊惱躄地。舉手拍頭而作是言。嗚呼惡欲。乃令諸佛說如此事。我等懷惡心著穢欲不知為患。乃令佛聞訶厭欲惡。各厭女身。四千女等皆發菩提。二千女人遠塵離垢得法眼淨。二千女人於未來世得辟支道。

At that time, when the women heard these words, their hearts were filled with shame and distress, and they threw themselves to the ground, raising their hands and beating their heads, saying: 'Alas, evil desire! It has caused the Buddhas to speak of such things. We harboured evil minds, attached to filthy desires and unaware of their fault, causing the Buddha to hear and rebuke our revulsion of evil desires!' Each reviled her female body; four thousand women all resolved upon bodhi; two thousand women left dust and defilement behind and attained the purity of the Dharma-eye; and two thousand women would attain the path of pratyekabuddhas in future ages.
