12.75

又問。云何二部教。答曰。四分十誦律。四十年後。一百一十年。迦葉遺律方行前國。如震旦諸國。謂之君子國根性輕利得行三部教。合四百三國土。同此一文字。並行前三律教。又問。云何三部教。答曰。行前二部教。及以大僧祇。如求流離國及餘二天下。唯行一部教。所謂薩婆多部是也。

He asked again: "What are the two divisions of teachings?" He replied: "The Dharmaguptaka Vinaya (Sifen lü) and the Daśabhāṇavāra Vinaya (Shisong lü). Forty years later, for one hundred and ten years, Kāśyapa's bequeathed Vinaya will only then circulate in the aforementioned kingdoms. In kingdoms such as Cīnasthāna, called the land of gentlemen, whose faculties are keen and sharp, they are permitted to circulate three divisions of teachings. In all, four hundred and three lands share this single script and all circulate the aforementioned three Vinaya teachings." He asked again: "What are the three divisions of teachings?" He replied: "Practicing the aforementioned two divisions of teachings as well as the Mahāsāṃghika [Vinaya]. In kingdoms such as Qiuliuli and the other two continents, only one division of teachings is practiced, namely, the Sarvāstivāda division."
