前漢哀帝元壽年。使景憲往大月氏國。因誦浮圖經還漢。當時稍行浮圖齋戒也。
In the Yuanshou era of Emperor Ai of the Former Han, Jing Xian was sent on an embassy to the kingdom of the Da Yuezhi, and consequently recited the Buddhist sūtras upon returning to the Han. At that time, the Buddhist fast and precepts were gradually practiced.
