13.18

自法移東漢教漸南吳。佛像靈祥充牣區宇。而群錄互舉。出沒有殊。至於瑞迹蓋無異也。今依敘列而罕以代分。何者或像陳晉代。而曆表隋唐。或陶化在人。而迹從倚伏。故不獲銓次。依緣而辯集之（此卷一十五緣）。

Ever since the Dharma shifted to the Eastern Han and the teaching gradually spread to Southern Wu, miraculous omens of Buddha images have filled the realm. The various records cite them differently, and their appearances and disappearances are distinct; yet as for auspicious traces, there is truly no divergence. Here I list them in order, but seldom divide them by dynasty. Why is this? Because an image might have been displayed in the Jin dynasty, yet its chronology was manifested in the Sui or Tang; or its transformation was lodged in people, while its traces followed concealment and emergence. Therefore, unable to arrange them strictly by rank, I compile them discriminatively according to circumstances (fifteen circumstances in this fascicle).
