The Sūtra on the Dhāraṇī of King Amitābha's Drum Sound says: At that time the World-Honoured One addressed the monks: 'In the Western Realm of Peace and Bliss there is presently a Buddha named Amitābha. If there are members of the fourfold assembly who can correctly uphold the name of that Buddha, by this merit, when their life is about to end, Amitābha together with a great assembly will proceed to this person's place and let them see him. Having seen him, they will instantly feel rejoicing and their merit will be doubled. Due to this cause and condition, where they are born, they will be forever free from the forms of the womb and defiled desires, and will purely transform and take birth naturally within fresh and marvelous jewel lotus flowers, endowed with the six supernatural powers, shining brightly. Amitābha Buddha is accompanied by the śrāvakas, the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha. His realm is named Qingtai (Pure and Peaceful), the dwelling of a holy king. His city is ten thousand yojanas in length and breadth, filled with the kṣatriya lineage. Amitābha Buddha's father is named the Wheel-Turning Holy King Candrordhva (Yueshang); his mother is named Utkṛṣṭavarṇa (Shusheng Miaoyan); his son is named Candraprabha (Yueming); his attendant disciple is named Vimalakīrti (Wugoucheng); his disciple foremost in wisdom is named Bhadraprabha (Xianguang); his disciple foremost in spiritual power and diligence is named Mahāvīrya (Dahua). At that time the Māra King is named Anabhibhū (Wusheng); there is a Devadatta named Śānti (Jijing).' Also, the Sukhāvatīvyūha Sūtra says: 'The Buddha told Maitreya: Even if the trichiliocosm were filled with raging fire, for the sake of reciting the name of Amitābha Buddha, one must pass straight through it; this would still not be difficult.'
