At Xianyi Temple in Shanyin during the Jin dynasty, there was Zhu Fachun, though it is unknown what sort of person he was. In his youth he went forth and resided at Xianyi Temple in Shanyin, practicing austerities with virtue, and was skilled at reciting the ancient Vimalakīrti-sūtra. During the Yuanxing era of the Jin, he went up to Lanzhu on behalf of the temple to purchase an old building. Returning across the lake at dusk, he encountered a windstorm, and his boat was small and about to sink. Chun relied solely with a single mind on Avalokiteśvara, reciting without ceasing. Presently he saw a large drifting boat, boarded it, and was saved. Reaching the shore, he inquired after the boat, but it had no owner, and in a moment it was seen no more. Monastics and laity all marvelled at this divine response. Later, his end was unknown. (The one verification above is taken from the Liang Gaoseng zhuan.)
