17.58

復次舍利子。是善男子善女人等。受持是經讀誦解義。乃至為他廣分別說。當知是人復獲如是十種功德稱讚利益。何等為十。一者常樂遠離諸不善友。二者常樂親近諸善知識。三者能緩諸魔所有繫縛。四者摧殄諸魔所有軍陣。五者善能訶厭一切煩惱。六者於一切行心常捐捨。七者違背一切向惡趣道。八者歸向一切趣涅槃道。九者善說一切越度生死清淨之施。十者巧能隨學一切菩薩所行軌則。又能奉行諸佛教勅。如是名為十種功德稱讚利益。又涅槃經云。法是佛母。佛從法生。三世如來皆供養法也。

Furthermore, Śāriputra, when these good sons and good daughters receive and uphold this scripture, read, recite, and explain its meaning, or even extensively analyze it for others, you should know that these persons also obtain these ten kinds of praised benefits of merit. What are the ten? First, constantly taking pleasure in staying far away from bad companions; second, constantly taking pleasure in drawing near to good spiritual friends; third, being able to loosen all the bonds of the Māras; fourth, destroying all the armies of the Māras; fifth, being skilled at rebuking and loathing all afflictions; sixth, constantly renouncing their minds regarding all conditioned activities; seventh, turning their backs on all paths leading to bad destinies; eighth, taking refuge in and turning toward all paths leading to nirvāṇa; ninth, skillfully explaining the pure giving that crosses over birth and death; tenth, skillfully emulating and training in all the rules of conduct practiced by bodhisattvas, and being able to put into practice the instructions of all Buddhas. These are called the ten kinds of praised benefits of merit. Moreover, the Nirvāṇa-sūtra says: 'The Dharma is the mother of the Buddhas; the Buddhas are born from the Dharma. The Tathāgatas of the three times all make offerings to the Dharma.'
