23.62

佛告太子。由好意燃燈供於佛前。是故得天眼洞視。由喜持伎樂於佛寺前。是故得天耳徹聽。由喜定意。是故知世間死生之變。

The Buddha told the prince: 'Because of having the good intention to light lamps in offering before the Buddha, he attains the divine eye of penetrating vision. Because he delights in presenting instrumental music before the Buddha's monastery, he attains the divine ear of thorough hearing. Because he delights in concentration of thought, he knows the changes of death and rebirth in the world.'
