23.64

佛告太子。由喜施車馬船等與三寶人用。是故得飛行四神足。由常專念諸佛三昧喜行教人。是故得念前世無數劫事。由菩薩得阿惟越致道。是故能斷死生之根。得佛道已便般涅槃。

The Buddha told the prince: 'Because he delights in giving dāna of carriages, horses, boats, and the like for the use of the Three Jewels and people, he attains flight through the four bases of supernormal power (ṛddhipāda). Because he constantly focuses on mindfulness of the samādhi of all Buddhas and delights in practicing it to teach people, he can remember matters of immeasurable kalpas in past lives. Because the bodhisattva attains the stage of non-retrogression (avaivartika), he is able to sever the root of death and rebirth; having attained the Buddha Way, he enters parinirvāṇa.'
