Therefore, in the treatises, this krośa is precisely what is used to measure the bodies of the devas, from the bodies of the Cāturmahārājakāyika devas up to the bodies of the Akaniṣṭha devas. Thus the Vibhāṣā-śāstra states: 'The bodies of the Cāturmahārājakāyika devas are one-fourth of a krośa in height.' If one relies on the Saddharmasmṛtyupasthāna-sūtra, it states that the length of the bodies of all the devas in the four heavens is identical to that of their kings (the Abhidharma agrees). The bodies of the Trāyastriṃśa devas are half a krośa in height, and the body of Śakra is one krośa in height. The bodies of the Yāma devas are two-fourths of a krośa in height (if one asks why the body of Śakra is taller than that of the Yāma devas, it is as the sūtra states: because in the past he specifically cultivated the karma of reverence, he attained an exceptionally taller form). The bodies of the Tuṣita devas are one krośa in height, equal to that of Śakra. The bodies of the Nirmāṇarati devas are one krośa and one-fourth of a krośa in height. The bodies of the Paranirmitavaśavartin devas are one and a half krośas in height (such are the body measurements of the various devas of the desire realm).
