昔者高陽氏。有同產而為夫婦。帝放之於崆峒之野。相抱而死。神鳥以不死草覆之。七年男女同體而生。二頭四足四手。是為蒙雙氏（右二驗出搜神記）。

In ancient times, in the Gaoyang clan, there were siblings born of the same mother who became husband and wife. The sovereign banished them to the wilds of Kongtong, where they embraced each other and died. A divine bird covered them with the herb of immortality. After seven years, a man and a woman were born sharing the same body, with two heads, four legs, and four hands. This was the Mengshuang clan. (The above two verifications are from the Soushen ji.)
