佛告諸比丘。作如是言。汝諸比丘若有心疑於彼之時。波羅柰城乞兒之王。施辟支佛摩呼茶迦此是誰者。莫作異見。婆提唎迦比丘是也。時乞兒王施辟支佛食。因彼業果今生釋種大豪貴族。資財無乏少。由昔願故。今得王位。又由昔願不墮惡道。常生人天多受快樂。又由昔願今值於我。而得出家。受具足戒。得羅漢果。我又授記。於我聲聞弟子之中。豪姓出家最第一者。婆提唎迦比丘是也。

The Buddha addressed the bhikṣus, saying: "O bhikṣus! If you have any doubt in your mind about who that king of beggars in the city of Vārāṇasī was who gave the modaka to the pratyekabuddha at that time, do not hold a different view: it was the bhikṣu Bhaddiya. At that time, the beggar king gave food to the pratyekabuddha; through the karmic fruit of that deed, he has now been born into the Śākya clan, an eminent and noble family, with no lack of wealth. Because of his former vow, he has now obtained kingship; and because of his former vow, he did not fall into the evil destinies, but has constantly been born among humans and devas, receiving much pleasure. Furthermore, because of his former vow, he has now encountered me, gone forth from the household life, received the full precepts, and attained the fruit of arhatship. I have also prophesied: among my śrāvaka disciples, the foremost of those who went forth from an eminent clan is the bhikṣu Bhaddiya."
