According to Vinaya Master Daoxuan's Record of Divine Resonances, the Vinaya Master asked a celestial being: 'Why are there lamps in the sky constantly shining at Sanxueshan Temple in Jianzhou of Shu?' The answer was: 'The mountain has a Bodhisattva Temple, first erected during the Saddharma of Kāśyapa Buddha; Bodhisattva Pramodyarāja built it, and the temple was named Dharma Lamp. From then until now, it has constantly illuminated the sky. There are three hundred lesser bodhisattvas who have severed grain, attained longevity, and constantly dwell on this mountain. Furthermore, these lamps were later maintained as an offering by the mountain god Li Te (Te was formerly the ruler of Shu). Therefore, in the first month, lamps are lit everywhere to make offerings to the Buddha's temples.'
