Storax (suhexang): The Sequel to the Book of the Han says: 'The kingdom of Da Qin blends various incenses and simmers them; the juice is called storax.' The Guangzhi says: 'Storax comes from the kingdom of Da Qin; some say from the kingdom of Suhe. The people of the kingdom harvest it and squeeze the juice to make fragrant paste, and then sell the dregs to merchants. Or, some say, they blend various fragrant herbs and simmer them into storax, and it is not a single natural substance.' Fu Zi says: 'The Western foreigners say storax is produced by a beast. People in China all consider this strange.'
