青木香。廣志曰。青木出交州。徐衷南方記曰。青木香出天篤國。不知形狀。南州異物志曰。青木香出天竺。是草根狀如甘草。俞益期箋曰。眾香共是一木。木節是青木香。

Costus root incense (qingmuxiang). The Guangzhi states: 'Costus root comes from Jiaozhou.' Xu Zhong's Nanfang ji states: 'Costus root incense comes from the country of Tiandu (India); its form is unknown.' The Nanzhou yiwu zhi states: 'Costus root incense comes from Tianzhu (India); it is an herbaceous root shaped like licorice.' The letters of Yu Yiqi state: 'All the various fragrances share a single tree; the knots of the tree are costus root incense.'
