佛告比丘。若閻浮洲人所謂西方瞿耶尼人以為東方。瞿耶尼人所謂西方欝單越人以為東方。欝單越人所謂西方弗婆提人以為東方。弗婆提人所謂西方閻浮洲人以為東方。南北二方亦復如是。

The Buddha told the monks, 'What the people of Jambudvīpa call the west, the people of Godānīya take as the east. What the people of Godānīya call the west, the people of Uttarakuru take as the east. What the people of Uttarakuru call the west, the people of Pūrvavideha take as the east. What the people of Pūrvavideha call the west, the people of Jambudvīpa take as the east. The two directions of south and north are also like this.'
