如佛本行經云。爾時世尊。日在東方。著衣持鉢。諸比丘僧左右圍繞。佛為眾首來至輸頭檀王宮內。到已坐於所設佛座。諸比丘僧各各依次如法而坐。爾時輸頭檀王。以佛為首。諸比丘僧次第坐已。自手行諸微妙飲食盡其種數。食已於時世尊教化輸頭檀王。令其解寤生歡喜已。從座而起還歸本處。

As the *Abhiniṣkramaṇa-sūtra* says: At that time, when the sun was in the east, the World-Honoured One put on his robes and took his bowl, with the assembly of bhikṣus surrounding him on left and right. With the Buddha at the head of the assembly, he came into King Śuddhodana's palace. Having arrived, he sat upon the prepared Buddha seat, and the assembly of bhikṣus each sat in order according to the Dharma. At that time, King Śuddhodana, with the Buddha at the head and the assembly of bhikṣus seated in succession, personally served various exquisite foods and drinks of every variety. When they had finished eating, the World-Honoured One instructed King Śuddhodana, causing him to understand and be filled with joy; then he rose from his seat and returned to his original place.
