汝等護我心　何假虛妄語
我今坐王位　不復得自在
阿摩勒半果　今在於我手
此即是我物　於是得自在
嗚呼尊富貴　可厭可棄捨
先領閻浮提　今一旦貧至
如殑伽駛流　一逝而不返
富貴亦復然　逝者不復還

"You merely seek to protect my feelings; / Why resort to empty, false words? / Sitting now upon the royal throne, / I no longer have any sovereignty. / Half an āmalaka fruit / Is now in my hand; / Only this is my possession, / Over which I have sovereignty. / Alas, honorable wealth and nobility / Are detestable and to be cast away! / Formerly ruling over Jambudvīpa, / Now suddenly poverty has arrived. / Like the rushing current of the Gaṅgā, / Once gone, it never returns; / Wealth and nobility are just the same: / What has departed shall never come back."
