45.24

佛告諸比丘。爾時野干主者。今提婆達多是。時群野干者。今諸比丘諫提婆達多者是。當知於過去時已曾不受知識軟語自喪身命。今復不受諸比丘諫。當墮惡道長夜受苦。

The Buddha told the monks: "The jackal chieftain at that time was Devadatta today. The pack of jackals at that time were the monks who now admonish Devadatta. You should know that in the past he already refused the gentle words of good friends and forfeited his own life; now he again refuses the admonitions of the monks, and will fall into the evil destinies to suffer torment through the long night."
