At Linggen Temple in the capital of Qi, there was Śramaṇa Huiyu, a native of Huanglong. He came to travel in the capital and resided at Linggen Temple. From his youth he was devoted to study and widely visited various masters; he was skilled in discourse and had an elegant deportment. Whenever he heard the appraisal of people's merits and demerits, he would stop up his ears and not listen. He had previously recited the Mahānirvāṇa[-sūtra], Saddharmapuṇḍarīka[-sūtra], and Daśabhūmika[-sūtra], and also practiced the contemplation work, excelling in the five gates. Once when sleeping, he saw three men come knocking at his door, all with clean and neat caps and robes, holding parasols. Yu asked whom they were looking for. They answered: 'The Dharma master is due to die, so we have come to welcome you.' Yu said: 'A minor matter is not yet completed; may it be extended for one year?' They answered: 'It may.' When the next year came and a full cycle was completed, he died. This year was the seventh year of the Yongming reign of Qi (489 CE), and his years were fifty-seven. (This one verification above is taken from the Liang Biographies of Eminent Monks.)
