47.16

又增一阿含經云。爾時世尊在舍衛國東鹿母園中。與大比丘眾五百人俱。是時世尊七月十五日。於露地敷坐。比丘僧前後圍繞。佛告阿難曰。汝今速擊揵椎。今七月十五日是受歲之日。阿難叉手便說此偈。

Furthermore, the Ekottarika-āgama says: At that time, the World-Honoured One was in the kingdom of Śrāvastī, in the eastern park of the Mother of Mṛgāra (Mṛgāramātṛ-prāsāda), together with a great assembly of five hundred monks. At this time, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, the World-Honoured One laid out his seat in the open air, and the assembly of monks surrounded him before and behind. The Buddha told Ānanda: "Quickly strike the gaṇḍī now. Today, the fifteenth day of the seventh month, is the day for receiving the years [of the monastic age] (pravāraṇā)." Ānanda joined his palms and spoke this verse:
