49.28

佛告阿難。宿世睒子者我身是也。盲父者今父王悅頭檀王是。盲母者夫人摩耶是。迦夷國王者阿難是也。時天帝釋者彌勒是。使我疾成無上正真道者。皆由孝德也。

The Buddha told Ānanda: 'Shanzi in that past life was myself. The blind father was my present father, King Śuddhodana. The blind mother was Lady Māyā. The king of Jiayi was Ānanda. The Śakra, Lord of the Devas, of that time was Maitreya. That I was caused to swiftly attain the unsurpassed, true and correct Way was entirely due to filial virtue.'
